Scripture of The Day: 27

Acts 17:24-25

New American Standard Bible

24 The God who made the world and everything that is in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made by hands; 25 nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;

This teaches us that God doesn't dwell in any "house of God", as he is Lord of all things, meaning he cannot be contained in any one location

Places of worship are therefore places of worship and nothing more - they are merely locations for members of a congregation to gather to listen to God's word and partake in the sacraments, as well as to engage in fellowship with one another

And God is for course omnipresent - hence we can worship him anywhere, at any time. It's not where and how that are important, it's the fact that he is worshipped that is important to him

Also, he needs nothing that is material from us and any gift to him would be meaningless as he gave us everything we have - hence he doesn't want us to sacrifice animals to him

He does however want to have a relationship with his humans but he doesn't need to - and this is achieved through worship. But worship is only the means through which we can become closer to God, it is not an end in itself

However, relating to God does demand time and energy if it is to be done properly but we don't sacrifice our time and energy when we attempt to relate to God, it's more like we invest it as cultivating a good relationship with God brings many benefits although it is valuable in itself

That's what.I got out of this scripture!
